Here is some information about the elements in the Pikmin World.
Fire: Some Pikmin are immune to fire, like the Red Pikmin. But, if an enemy hits your Pikmin with fire, you have to save them quickly by whistling at them. If you don't save them, the fire will do 1 Damage each turn to them, but most Pikmin only have 1 Health point. Fire will also do 1 damage to you if you get hit by it, unless you have a special upgrade.
Electricity: This may be the most dangerous element. Yellow Pikmin are immune to electricty, but for the other Pikmin, a small shock of electricty will vaporize them. The only way they could stay alive is if the shock was very small, then you would see sparks flying off of the Pikmin and you'd have to use your whistle to save it.
Water: So far, the only Pikmin that can go in water, and breath in it, are Blue Pikmin. But if water is sprayed at Blue Pikmin, they can still get thrown back. Other Pikmin will drown in the water within one turn, if your Pikmin gets stuck in the water use your whistle to call it back. If water is sprayed at your Pikmin, some of the water would get stuck in their throat and they die within 1 turn, so you'll have to whistle at them rapidly to save them.
Ice: So far, no Pikmin have been discovered that are immune to ice. On your journey you will sometimes see frozen bodies of water, Pikmin will slip and fall on the ice, you either have to go across it yourself, or find a new kind of Pikmin that is immune to Ice. If your Pikmin are hit by ice, they'll become frozen and die within 1 turn, to save them you must whistle at them rapidly so they will break out of the ice.
Poison: White Pikmin are the only kind that are immune to poison. If your Pikmin breath in the poison, they will act like they always do when hit by an element, they'll run around and scream, you'll have one turn to whistle at them all and make the poison stop. But if your hit with poison many times, it'll get into your oxygen tank and you'll begin to lose 1 Health Point each turn.
